The Contested Provisioning of Care and Housing

Amplified by the Covid-19-Pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and skyrocketing inflation symptoms of housing and care crises are all around us. While recent experiences highlight the fragilities of these societal systems and (re)produced inequalities, they also increased the awareness of how crucial care and housing as well as their interdependencies are for human flourishing. This project employs a Polanyian lens to investigate current dynamics of marketization and communitisation of care and housing in contemporary societies by analysing care and housing regimes in three European countries: Austria, Hungary, and the Netherlands.
